  1. This is an old film (1942) showing what life was like in the English Countryside 70 years ago. It highlights the relationship between the farming community and the market town. Although the town in this film is Newark, which is in Nottinghamshire, it is very similar to Leek, which we hope to visit shortly.

  2. It was a quite busy market. I like those lovely livestock. <3

  3. The river that flows through that town is the same river that flows through our campus (the river Trent)!. It is a lot wider in Newark as its not far from the North Sea where the river Trent ends,
We used to have a market like that here in my town Uttoxeter, and I can remember when I was very young, going with my father to sell our pet rabbit who had become too big for us. I was really sad that day.

  4. I also remember that sometimes bulls would escape from the market and run through the town!
